Film sequel still on track, just like the first film it will wait until Rick is ready

Namaste Quo has always been the sequel planned, and it can wait.

Bula Quo - Fiji, the long wait

When Bula Quo was bounced off the walls Rick fell ill and the film was delayed, that is covered about 4 blogs back.

However, after years of projects the one thing you realise is that a good project can wait. The fusion of Fijian / Hawaiian unplugged music was a test in a new direction and from that inspiration came  two unplugged albums. But with the major hits exhausted the next move would have been a new creation.

Namaste Quo

Like the first film, as we think of moving forward there are reasons to wait, obstacles that fall in front of you. We all met at the Starlite in Marbella just a long week ago where Rhino told actress Jean Heard (who plays Doris) that Rick is determined to and expects to make a full recovery.
The film of Doris Visiting Marbella and Puerto Banus, and the Starlite Club is in the previous blog, but here we thought we would share the editor's ingenuity of cutting odd footage we took from the recce in India when writing Namaste Quo, and cut it into a few travel films. (for Doris Visits)

You may have noticed that in the Marbella / Puerto Banus Doris Visits film we used the film score from Bula Quo.

This picture above is actually from the Maldives after the recce where the script was completed.
So, the big question that Stuart had been floating for years.... India, Bhangra Rock?

Status Quo and Bollywood Bhangra

Would Quo music ever mix with Bhangra? Well, we certainly would have a try if we were given the chance and all those hits could get the Bollywood feel in years to come. The script has been around now for a few years and it uses many of the hits the first film did not and leaves room for new songs.

This is in particular the footage from Kerala. The film will try and be a travel log of India which is huge. So it will have to feature the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort so it sounds like it will start in Delhi, and they will escape to the south and a canal boat on the backwaters. Sadly most recess are stills so there is very little video, but these films will show where the writing was done. It was then finished and checked in the Maldives. That has not been cut yet but there is some film there and of working on script.

Some may know that Simon the manager has a fascination with wild life and elephants, so it was important we introduced the use of Elephants. At the moment that happens at a wedding so the elephants were seen and the feasibility of using them and where.

However with all films the images you want of unrest and being endangered and then a chase sequence in unfamiliar surroundings are the same themes that the Bond and Bourne use. With Quo it will once again be a romp and will be epic and foreign like the Fijian Bula Quo. These city images will be the ones we want to use in a mad chaos.  Let's hope Rick recovers, the program and the film get back on track.

Kerala

Kerala, where the film was about half written. As this film is currently only on the Daily Motion travel channel, you will have to click this text to see it.

The cooking demonstrations are both up on the new YouTube Doris Visits travel channel so are easier to find links. If you like Indian food the food was terrific and these are great Indian Cooking demonstrations. Funny old world eh .....

Maldives

Finishing in the Maldives, we then flew home knowing that while in the air everyone in the Quo office had a script and a template to see what COULD happen. There was research and a budget. Life is tough, but someone has to do it. This could another incredible adventure and another turn of a page in a long book. We do still plan to get the picture book out and the behind the scenes from Fiji and what happened but as we speak we still are at crossed swords with Fijian Government departments about their share of the investment which has yet to be seen. So, we are working, still.. as always.

Checking in with the guys in Spain.....
